CORINNE AUSTIN
I’m Corinne Austin and I come from a very active background and have been a keen horse rider since 8 years of age.
I love the outdoors and have participated in many individual and team sports throughout my life. There is nothing
better or more natural than using our bodies in the physical manner in which they were created.
I have completed a Bachelor of Sport & Exercise Science through Waikato Institute of Technology (the leading
physical education provider in New Zealand) and was awarded the Top Academic Student of the Year in which I
graduated. I have also completed a number of papers in psychology enabling me to approach behaviour modification
with my clients with quiet confidence.
I have now spent 9 years working hands on in the fitness industry. My first years were based at Physiques
Fitness Centre in Hamilton. My latter years were spent at World of Fitness in Whangarei. In November 2007, I
decided to start my own Personal Training business and so One2One Personal Training and Fitness Studio was created.
The FitnessLife awards are New Zealand’s annual Fitness Industry awards ceremony which recognizes and celebrates
the achievements and successes of New Zealand’s fitness and health practitioners. In her first year of operating
One2One Personal Training and Fitness Studio, Corinne Austin was announced as one of three finalists in the Adidas Up
& Coming Personal Trainer of the Year (North Island) category at the 2008 FitnessLife Awards.
HALLE BARRETT
Born and bred in Wellington, I spent my childhood dancing right from an early age. Ballet, gymnastics, hip hop dance
and aerobics were my passion. After finishing high school, the thought of getting a desk job just wasn’t me.
So, I went to Christchurch and completed a two–year Diploma in Exercise Prescription at the New Zealand Institute
of Sport. From there I transferred up to the Waikato and three years later graduated with a Bachelor in Sport &
Exercise Science.
Throughout my time at University I worked part–time at Les Mills Gym in both Christchurch and
Hamilton as a group fitness and gym instructor. Les Mills blessed me with the opportunity in meeting my amazing partner
Steve who also worked there. Two years ago we decided to shift to Whangarei (his home town) for a more relaxed and
balanced lifestyle. Last year I set up my personal training business and one month later I was approached by Corinne
who suggested we team up so we could have the power of two experienced trainers and could therefore establish a bigger
more recognised business.
I can honestly say that I absolutely love my job! We have the pleasure of training the most
amazing clients to whom we have developed close bonds with (one might say a “love/hate relationship”).
For some reason clients hate us at the time of training but love us after their workout! I still teach Les Mills Body
Pump at Kensington Fitness at 8am on Saturday mornings so feel free to pop in for a great strength/endurance workout!
